danke für deinen Input. Gerade die Information mit der utf8 Kennzeichnung bei DBC Backup wird für viele Leser interessant und hilfreich sein.

Anmerkung zu meiner Kritik an DBC Backup:

Die Daten werden richtig (als UTF8) kodiert gesichert. Beim Wiedereinspielen muss man jedoch auf die korrekte Client-Verbindung zum SQL-Server achten. In meinem Fall läuft alles über defaultmäßig über latin1, d.h. der Server erwartet, dass die Restoredaten als latin1 kodiert sind. Das ist jedoch falsch – sie sind ja als utf8 gedumpt worden.

Ergo: Der Dump muß manuell als utf8 gekennzeichnet werden. Diese Kennzeichnung erfolgt, in dem man oben im Backupfile folgende Zeile einträgt:

/*!40101 SET NAMES utf8 */;

Dann klappt alles wie erwartet.

DBC Backup kommt ebenfalls nicht mit UTF8-Inhalt klar.

Zu BackUpWordPress:

Leider überhaupt nicht zu empfehlen, wenn man als Zeichenkodierung UTF8 einsetzt. Soeben getestet unter MySql5/Wordpress 2.8.
